Description

The 55 Quart Wheeled Cobalt roto-molded cooler is rated for up to 5 days ice retention, while also being nearly 20% lighter in weight than traditional roto-molded coolers.  Maybe more importantly, this cooler is also 40-50% lower in cost than those over-hyped brands.  Don’t worry though, our Cobalt line of coolers still boast all the same great features of other premium roto-molded coolers.

The 55 Quart Cobalt cooler with wheels is also the perfect choice if versatility AND MOBILITY are equally important for you.  You truly will be hard pressed to find a better roto-molded cooler with wheels offering anywhere.  This cooler is quickly becoming one of our most popular models and we have a hard time keeping them in stock.

Is Cobalt Right for Me?

Do you love the look and performance of a high-end roto-molded super cooler, but don’t necessarily need 10 days of ice or the back-breaking weight (and price tag) that comes along with it?  If so, then our Cobalt line of coolers is perfect for you!

Great cooler! We bought this for a trip to Yosemite where everything has to be kept in the bear lockers. It easily fit in the locker and keeps ice for about 3+ days (we brought a lot of food, so less ice than testing I’m sure). By end of day three, we had to get more but we were happy with that. Our previous cooler was only good for one day. Love the wheels and handle, although the handle is on the drain side, which was counter intuitive for me. Would make sense to put this on the other side so you could easily lift it to drain water. Maybe the wheel axel goes through the area, hence it’s flipped around. The handle does get wet when draining but all that’s pretty minor for me. I did get the basket and divider, which work and fit perfectly.

I really like this cooler but there are a couple things that I wish it had. The first would be the ability to open it with one hand. I do like the latches over many other coolers but not being able to open it one-handed gets to be a pain. The other minor issue is when you let go of the handle used to roll it, it bounces off of the ice chest. I will probably try and add a couple pieces of foam to stop this. Overall, I love the ice chest though.

Our new blue cooler is built very tough and will keep items chilled for days. It’s a little heavy but you can tell it is well made. It lives up to it’s billing.

Strong materials, heavy duty but bulky and loud to use. Metal handle is clanky, they could use some better rubber bushings in future models to limit this from happening.

I realize this is a bit specific, but I spent a tremendous amount of time searching numerous brands for a cooler that would fit upright in our trunk and thought I would share my findings. To get it in the trunk, one needs to open the floor storage door forward. Then you can tilt and slide the cooler to get it into the trunk. It then slides to the front of the trunk for a perfect fit.

This is my first roto-molded cooler. I bought the Cobalt 55 QT for the wheels, and size dimensions. I needed a cooler that would fit through the doorway of our travel trailer, and also underneath the tonneau cover on my truck. I love having the wheels and it seems to be well built. I added a custom Sea Dek cooler pad from USA TUFF to the top of the lid, and also added some rubber gasket to the underside of the handle where it meets the side of the cooler. Now when I let go of the handle it doesn't make a sound, or rattle during transport. Surprisingly, the ice retention was about the same as my LIFETIME 55qt cooler, but is sufficient for my needs on short trips. 5 stars for their customer service which was awesome. If there is a problem with your order, they will respond quickly and resolve it. Very rare these days so that was a big plus and very much appreciated. Overall, great cooler and great company.

I REALLY wanted to give an excellent review, but unfortunately I'm not completely happy. I'd like to share 4 things that caused me to give my purchase 3 stars, instead of a 5 or even 4 star review. #1 - The handle to tow the cooler is not padded, nor is the cooler in front padded where the handle hits the cooler. When towing the cooler by the handle and then dropping the handle, (or when driving with the cooler in the back, the handle makes a VERY loud sound as it flops around and hits the cooler body, or when it's let go of after towing. This could have been easily remedied by putting some padding on the handle. #2 - Their more expensive cooler talks about the smart way they put the drain plug at the end with the wheels, so it's easy to drain. I agree this was very smart, and figured they would do that on all their cooler models. When I asked customer service about this, they said they will be doing this on the model I purchased in the future. This didn't sit well, as I wish now I would have waited to order till they did this on my model. When the cooler is full, it's not easy to pick up the end with the wheels to drain the excess water out. MUCH easier to grab by the handle and let the cooler tilt on it's wheels to drain. #3 - I packed the cooler with ice and my food to the top. I only opened it two times for a few minutes over 3 days time. My food after 3 days was barely cold, and I almost had to throw some food out. My model is rated for 5 days. Maybe I didn't put enough ice in for the amount of food, or maybe I'm doing something else wrong, but it didn't seem like it. #4 - The latches that keep the lid shut barely have any resistance at all when closing the cooler. In other words, I'm left wondering if the seal is really tight. The latches are actually so loose, I wonder if I hit a large bump with my truck, that they could release and allow the lid to flop around and decrease how well the cooler lid is sealed against the body of the cooler. Thanks for allowing me to give my feedback. I think it's still the best cooler I've probably ever purchased in the big picture, but for the price, I feel these issues above should/could be addressed, or better expectations given. -Joel

For the price it is a good cooler but not great. On our first trip it only kept the ice from melting for two days. We were at Lake Mohave near Laughlin nevada. It got up to about 100 each day and the cooler was in the shade. The latches also seemed not really tight when latched.

We just ordered a Cobalt by Blue Coolers 55 Wheeled and used it for the first time in the mountains of Western North Carolina. I did some online research for a few weeks. We purchased this cooler because it seems quite rugged, it got some real good reviews online, and is an excellent value compared to the roto-molded cooler competition. We enjoyed your website video which demonstrated the beating these coolers can withstand. As a retired law enforcement officer I really appreciate that your website mentions support for police/fire/emt. The other big sell for us is the 5 year warranty and the bottle opener is a nice feature. We were impressed with the ease of online ordering and the speed of delivery. We plan to get a bunch of use out of this cooler on our pontoon on the lake. It replaced our old telescoping-handle Coleman that was awkward to pull. So far we are very pleased. We iced down the beer and soda Thursday night and everything stayed cold til Sunday afternoon. A couple of things we would like to see on the next version: 1.) Rubber or silicone padding on the grab handle, especially where it comes in contact with the side of the cooler when released. The handle is rather heavy and slams loudly into the side when released. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be an aftermarket product other than a neoprene/velcro luggage handle cover I found on Amazon…I may be able to double one up. 2.) A simple tether for the drain plug…probably easier said than done but necessary because these are easy to lose. Perhaps a loop or slot on the end inside the cooler so that the user has the option of looping zip-tie (or “T”) onto to prevent the plug from coming completely out? Really nothing I can "rig” with the existing plug. Perhaps sell an accessory/replacement upgraded plug with a tether feature? 3.) We’d like to see can holders molded into each of the four corners of the top cover exterior…or at least two corners. 4.) We’d like to see a ruler molded into the top cover exterior. Keep up the good work.

This cooler is the perfect size but doesn’t hold the ice for 5 days like it says it should. That’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars.

Great marketing (I bought one) ..Cooler is well designed and solid quality...delivery was quick....was excited to receive my cooler prior to my beach vacation. The not so good...the drain is opposite the wheels side. I sent a note to customer service and received a terse response that this is the way the cooler is designed and if I wasn't satisfied I could return it. That's great, but returning product is an inconvenience and I was about to head out on vacation. My theory - the manufacturer screwed up and cut the drain on the wrong side of the coolers so Blue Coolers was stuck with entire lot or lots of coolers and decided to sell them. That's really the only plausible explanation I could come up with otherwise, the designer should be fired. So.....One, although the cooler is less expensive than BC competitors, it is still expensive and should arrive as advertised or Blue Coolers should do more to extend themselves to make it right by their customers. Two, one of the features (drain on the wheels side of the cooler, which only makes sense) you tout in your ads should be correct. Three, your customer service needs immediate improvement if you expect to rise to the next level. I wanted to really love this cooler but the experience left me less than satisfied.

Highly recommend! It’s a great cooler and highly comparable to the Yeti. But better. I has always wanted a Yeti. Yetis we’re made in my old hometown. Yeti decided to shut down their factory and move their factory overseas. I was looking for an awesome American made cooler and this is the one! It’s light weight. Has wheels. Get this cooler!!!

“I love my Blue Cooler! I travel a ton to fish all of my favorite destinations around the world and my cooler is always an absolute necessity when I’m on the road! The wheels are a game changer.”

FAQs

What is a roto-molded cooler and what is so great about them?

Roto-molded coolers are manufactured using a very specific rotational mold process wherein we utilize high end molded plastic (Polyethylene) that creates a continuous and thick cooler wall. This roto-molding process, combined with our extra thick and uninterrupted layers of insulation, ensures that Blue Coolers will keep your ice, drinks, food and whatever else, cold and fresh for the maximum amount of time. Moreover, you will not find a more durable, bear-proof cooler on the market.

Why are Blue Coolers so affordable compared to the leading brands?

We are a small family run company with minimal overhead and no expensive marketing campaigns, agencies, or celebrity endorsements.  We also strive to cut out all the middlemen in the supply chain process so we can bring our products to you as direct as possible.  As a result, we are able to sell high quality products at a combination of low price and high quality that is unmatched.

What is our warranty policy?

Blue Coolers offers a 100% satisfaction moneyback warranty for the first Ninety (90) days after purchase on all products sold (the “Initial Warranty”).  Customers may return their products for full refund with no questions asked anytime within the Initial Warranty period.  Blue Coolers further warrants (the “Extended Warranty”) that every hard-sided cooler sold will be free from manufacturers defects in material, structure, and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of Five (5) years from the date of purchase.  For soft-sided coolers and drinkware this Extended Warranty period is One (1) year from the date of purchase.  Warranty claims outside of the Initial Warranty Period, may be subject to restocking fees to cover the cost of shipping, handling and/or processing of the warranty request.  Blue Coolers also reserves the right to attempt to fix or remedy products during the Extended Warranty Period before full replacement is prescribed.  Finally, Blue Coolers will replace all functional and non-structural parts (e.g. rubber straps, logo sticker, rope handles, drain caps, chrome locking plates, hinges) for lifetime subject to a shipping and handling fee.  A restocking fee of ten percent (10%) may apply on any return during either the Initial Warranty or Extended Warranty periods.
